Definition

A plane rectangular coordinate system based on, and mathematically adjusted to, a MAP PROJECTION, so that GEOGRAPHIC POSITIONS in terms of LATITUDE and LONGITUDE can be readily transformed into PLANE COORDINATES, and the computation relating to them made by the ordinary methods of PLANE SURVEYING.
