A method of SURVEYING for the rapid deter­mination of distance, DIRECTION, and relative ELEVATI­ON of a point with respect to the instrument station by a single OBSERVA­TION on a rod or other object at the point. The stadia method of SURVEYING is an exam­ple of tachymetry.
