Definition
The line connecting the two orbital points (called apsides) that are nearest and farthest from the centre of attraction, as the PERIGEE and the APOGEE in the case of an ORBIT about the EARTH, and the PERIHELION and the APHELION in the case of an ORBIT about the SUN.
