Definition

A method consisting in sounding along the arcs of circles subtended by two objects whose POSITION is known. For each arc, an angle remains constant (fixed angle) and the second angle, between another pair of objects, defines the POSITION of the vessel along the arc. By varying the fixed angle successively by equal amounts, a series of LINES OF SOUNDING covering the area systematically can be run. See FIXED ANGLE PLOT.
