Definition

A film which has the emulsion coated on an extremely thin membrane which is in turn supported on a normal‑thickness film base. The emulsion and the membrane can be stripped (separated) from the base after exposure and processing. The thin image so obtained can be mounted face down on a new support for lateral image reversal or used for combi­ning with, or inserting in, other image elements.
