A hypothetical TIDE based upon the assumption that the water responds, instantly to the TIDE-PRODUCING FORCES of the MOON and SUN, and forms a surface of EQUILIBRIUM under the action of these forces, disregarding friction, inertia and the irregular distribution of the land masses.
